Someday, in the future, there will be an SM City Tuguegarao. I understand that plans are in the works, as we speak. The picture above shows an artists impression how SM City Tuguegarao will look when it is completed. I have visited many SM City malls in Metro Manila area and they are always fun to shop at……..but this will be my first opportunity to visit a new SM City Mall in the Cagayan Valley! Looking forward to shopping there when it is completed.

Even though I am back in the states now, I am always looking at the photos that I took in Manila and only dreaming that sometime within the next two years I will be able to return.
The photos above were taken from my hotel room in Ermita. A few blocks from Roxas Blvd and a few blocks from Makati.
One of the things that I would do different next time is to rely less on TAXi’s as they can be very expensive on ones budget. Next time I will rely more on Public Transportation. The Jeepneys and the Elevated Train System.
My next trip I will bring a TABLET PC with me so I can blog everyday while I am there!
I traveled through Bayombong last year on the way from Manila to Tuguegarao, Cagayan. Bayombong is in the province of Nueva Vizcaya. There are many hills and mountains nearby. The scenery is very beautiful. If you go there you need to see St. Dominic’s Cathedral, Calvary Hill and go to the market where they sell citrus fruits of all types!
St. Dominic Cathedral
This is Calvary Hill
There are always many different types of Citrus fruits for sale at the market in Bayombong.
The Kalesa, or Calesa, is a horse drawn carriage and they are frequently seen in Tuguegarao and in Tuao in the Cagayan Valley of the northern Philippines.
The Calesa is an economical way to get from one place to another. In Tuao Cagayan it will take you from one place to another for 10pesos (about 25-cents US). There is enough room in the cabin of the calesa to bring the things home that you bought at the market! The calesa can hold about 6 Filipinos comfortably. Sometimes if there are a lot of people there is room for one or two people to sit up front with the driver.
Many times it feels as though, although physically I am in Texas, in the United States of America, I am walking with one foot firmly planted here in the states while my other foot is still planted in the Philippines. Many times I imagine myself still walking down the streets in Santa Cruz, Manila, or in the beautiful Cagayan Valley. I spent seven months in the Philippines and it was a very enjoyable vacation. It inspired me to write three books about my stay there. I will talk more about my books in future posts.
