There are many items in the bakery and the market that one can buy for 1p to 5p. When I was liviing in Tuao, a man on a bicycle would sell pandesal every morning (small buns). Each piece of pandesal was only 1p, so I would buy up to 10p of bread at a time (10p = 25cents in US money)
