The Kalesa, or Calesa, is a horse drawn carriage and they are frequently seen in Tuguegarao and in Tuao in the Cagayan Valley of the northern Philippines.
The Calesa is an economical way to get from one place to another. In Tuao Cagayan it will take you from one place to another for 10pesos (about 25-cents US). There is enough room in the cabin of the calesa to bring the things home that you bought at the market! The calesa can hold about 6 Filipinos comfortably. Sometimes if there are a lot of people there is room for one or two people to sit up front with the driver.
